IELTS Writing Task 1 Line Graph là dạng phổ biến nhất trong Academic Writing. Bạn có 20 phút để viết 150+ từ mô tả xu hướng trên 1 hoặc nhiều đường. Bài này tổng hợp cấu trúc chuẩn band 7.0, vocabulary mô tả xu hướng, và mẫu bài hoàn chỉnh.

I. Cấu trúc chuẩn band 7.0 (4 đoạn)

Đoạn 1: Introduction (1 câu)

Paraphrase câu đề bài.

Mẫu:

“The line graph compares/illustrates/shows the changes in [X] from [year] to [year].”

Đoạn 2: Overview (2 câu)

Tổng quan xu hướng chính, KHÔNG có số liệu.

Mẫu:

“Overall, it is clear that [main trend]. In addition, [secondary trend].”

Đoạn 3-4: Body (chi tiết với số liệu)

Chia làm 2 body, mỗi body 3-4 câu với số liệu cụ thể.

II. Vocabulary mô tả xu hướng

1. Tăng (Increase) – Verbs

  • increase / rise / go up / grow – tăng (chung)
  • climb / surge / soar – tăng mạnh
  • rocket / skyrocket – tăng vọt
  • jump – tăng đột ngột
  • improve – cải thiện

2. Tăng – Nouns

3. Giảm (Decrease) – Verbs

IV. Trạng từ thời gian

V. Cấu trúc câu mô tả xu hướng

Cấu trúc 1: S + V + adv

“The number of cars increased significantly from 2010 to 2020.”

Cấu trúc 2: There was a/an + adj + N + in S

“There was a significant increase in the number of cars from 2010 to 2020.”

Cấu trúc 3: S + saw / experienced / witnessed + adj + N

“The number of cars saw a significant increase from 2010 to 2020.”

Cấu trúc 4: A + adj + N + occurred / was observed

“A significant increase in the number of cars occurred from 2010 to 2020.”

VI. Bài mẫu band 7+ hoàn chỉnh

Đề: The line graph shows the changes in the number of fast food restaurants in three cities (London, Tokyo, Sydney) from 2000 to 2020.

Bài viết (180 từ):

The line graph compares the changes in the number of fast food restaurants in three major cities — London, Tokyo, and Sydney — over a 20-year period from 2000 to 2020.

Overall, all three cities experienced an upward trend in fast food outlets, with London witnessing the most dramatic growth. While Tokyo saw steady expansion, Sydney’s growth was modest by comparison.

In 2000, London had approximately 200 fast food restaurants, slightly fewer than Tokyo’s 250 and Sydney’s 150. Over the following decade, London experienced rapid growth, surging to around 500 outlets by 2010 — more than doubling. Tokyo, meanwhile, climbed steadily to 400, while Sydney saw only a modest rise to about 200.

From 2010 to 2020, the trends diverged further. London continued its remarkable expansion, peaking at 800 outlets by 2020 — quadruple its 2000 figure. Tokyo’s growth slowed but still reached 500. Sydney, on the other hand, showed signs of stagnation, fluctuating between 200 and 230 throughout the period, ending at approximately 220 in 2020.

By the end of the period, London had clearly become the city with the highest number of fast food restaurants, while Sydney lagged significantly behind.

VII. Common mistakes cần tránh

  1. KHÔNG đưa số liệu trong Overview – chỉ general trends.
  2. KHÔNG đưa ý kiến cá nhân – Task 1 là mô tả khách quan.
  3. KHÔNG copy nguyên đề bài – phải paraphrase.
  4. KHÔNG viết dưới 150 từ – sẽ bị trừ điểm.
  5. Đừng dùng toàn từ “increase” – đa dạng vocabulary.
  6. Chia tense đúng: dữ liệu quá khứ → past tense.
  7. So sánh các dòng – không chỉ mô tả từng dòng riêng lẻ.

VIII. Checklist before submitting

  • ☑ Có đủ 4 đoạn (intro – overview – 2 body)
  • ☑ Trên 150 từ
  • ☑ Có Overview với 2-3 main trends
  • ☑ Body có số liệu cụ thể
  • ☑ Dùng vocab đa dạng (5+ từ chỉ tăng/giảm)
  • ☑ Có so sánh giữa các dòng
  • ☑ Chia tense nhất quán
  • ☑ Đếm từ trong 150-200 (không quá dài)

IX. Câu mẫu để dùng ngay

Intro:

Overview:
